Tobias
Content Marketing Manager

When did you join OTRS and why did you choose us?

The best stories are written by themselves: It was a coincidence that an ex-colleague had forwarded me the job posting. For me it was immediately “the perfect match” – based on the tasks in the content area, the profile I was looking for and, finally, the company values. I was attracted by the internationality, the remote culture and the idea of freedom.

Why did you become a Content Marketing Manager and what is special about this job for you?

I have a passion for writing, a creative mindset, and enjoy thinking deeply. This initially led me to journalism, but today I can live out my passion for focused, long-format content even better in content marketing. The special aspect of the job is the high level of creativity and freedom to create, which is practically unmatched elsewhere.

How does a perfect workday start for you?

To be honest: I’m happy when I can enjoy a good cup of coffee, listen to top-class music and take my daughter to school in a relaxed atmosphere. It’s all working out quite well at the moment. When it comes to work itself, I have a great need for structure, so I like to plan and organize tasks precisely so that it’s a successful day without any “nasty surprises”.

At OTRS we mainly work from home office, how do you still manage to maintain a team feeling?

A team feeling is not created by physical presence, but by the way we work together. We need to have the same goals, act in concert and support each other. Personally, I like to sprinkle in humor (it helps to create a relaxed atmosphere where things aren’t taken too seriously) and seek common ground to create a stronger sense of togetherness.

What would you recommend to applicants who want to apply for a job at OTRS?

Authenticity, honesty and self-belief: My first job interview didn’t feel like it went well,  I solved it by admitting a weakness in direct conversations and turning it into an advantage in writing. It was about my ability to think things through at length. Say goodbye to perfection but be aware of your abilities!
