OTRS 8 becomes OTRS: Name change ushers in rolling release

Cupertino, CA, November 27, 2023 – OTRS topples the version numbers: The service management suite OTRS developed by OTRS AG is being continued as rolling release. As a result, the version number will disappear from the name. As of today, the current version OTRS 8 becomes OTRS. Customers will now be provided with new and improved functions at regular intervals, so that their software is always up to date.

Customers of the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution will be continuously updated to the latest version, while on-premise customers will carry out regular updates as usual in order to benefit from the latest functions and corrections. This eliminates the need for resource-intensive updates from one version to the next, as well as time-consuming training. At the same time, backwards compatibility will be maintained, and customers will be informed of major changes in a timely manner. In addition to functional improvements, new features and enhancements, the rolling release also includes security and bug fixes.

OTRS available in over 40 languages

A significant enhancement that was rolled out with the last update of OTRS 8 in October is that OTRS is now available in 48 languages. In addition to the world’s most widely spoken languages such as Spanish, Arabic and Chinese, the languages now available include, among others, Vietnamese, Indonesian and Korean. A complete list of all available languages can be viewed on this page. The list of languages is also continuously expanded in the rolling release model.
