When did you join OTRS Group, and why did you choose us?
I joined OTRS in 2021. Looking for the job, I had two objectives: being able to work freely (without micromanagement) from home and to work with my favorite technologies.
OTRS Group offered both.
Why did you become a Software Developer, and what is special about this job for you?
Software development is a powerful skill! With a few keystrokes, you can do so many things that are difficult if not impossible to do. OTRS Group offers opportunities to use your own skills and continue growing.
At OTRS Group, we mainly work from home office. How do you still manage to maintain a team feeling?
Communication is vital to maintaining a team setting. A quick daily meeting helps to keep everyone focused on the team goal. Also, optional pair programming builds relationships and technical skills while accomplishing a set goal. To build relationships further, OTRS Group allocated time and money to make frequent personal team meetings possible.
How does a typical working day look for you?
Usually, I get up in the morning, check my emails and chat while having breakfast. After that, I drop off my child at kindergarten and continue to work on ongoing tasks. That includes having daily meetings to see what others are struggling with or have accomplished. Pair programming sessions to support each other are also part of our daily routine.
What has been the most exciting project you’ve worked on at OTRS Group so far, and why did you enjoy working on it?
Recently, I had an interesting performance improvement assignment in which I was able to make dramatic performance improvements when exporting many tickets at the same time.
